Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2016

It was that time of the year again for the standard chartered marathon. I have signed up for the 21 KM again this year.

Just to note that for anyone who wants to join this event you must follow closely on the date of opening of registration as places get snapped up really quick (in a few day's time)

As usual, on race day LRT stations will be open at early morning 2 am for full marathoners as their gun time was 4.30 am. However the notice for how-to-get-there was only published on the same week of the event. Not all stations will be open, essentially only those with ample parking space will be opened for park and ride.

Tips: always bring along your Touchngo cards to avoid long queue at the ticket counter on the way back. The roads in KL would still be remain closed at the time. It is advisable to arrive earlier in the morning to do some stretching and toilet break.

The AIMS (Association of International Marathon and Distance Races) certified route map was the same route back in 2014. Basically, there is a water station every 2 KM after 2 KM mark. The route from the starting line was from dataran merdeka - jalan raja laut - jalan sultan ismail - jalan raja chulan - jalan tun razak - jalan ampang - Akleh highway - jalan kuching - jalan parlimen, then jalan damansara and back to the finish line.

Gun time at Dataran Merdeka with carnival atmosphere. there was tribal drums playing to fire up your spirit.

Don't expect to sprint in the first few kilometers as it is quite crowded.

There were radio DJ, music and volunteers all over to cover the event.

This is that time of the year you run on Akleh, over seeing KLCC.

Down to Jalan Damansara from Jalan Parlimen.

Nearly to the finish line.

Finally done.

See you again next year I hope if my feet can still take it.
