It was a cool Friday morning when my gang, all 10 of us decided to take some time off our daily life and hop OUT into our cars with our fishing gears and IN to a speed boat which brought us to a light house in the Straits of Malacca. Yes you heard it right, fishing at a light house.
Personally I am not a fan of boats which wobble up and down which eventually can lead me to seeing my earlier breakfast again. Hence, hats off to the my good friend who brought up this idea of fishing on a light house, whilst one can enjoy the opportunity of fishing in the open sea, minus the motion sickness.
We arrived around 9 am in the morning at Port Klang, parked our car and started load our stuffs into the speed boat. There were 2 groups of anglers which were headed there that day and so you can roughly know how many anglers you can expect to see that day.
We arrived at the structure at around 10.30 am and then we started to set up our gears for fishing after we unload all our bags. As most experienced angers would know, sea fishing largely depends on the under current. The ocean was clear the other day and it was a good day for fishing.
The gang were targeting Queen Fish and Barracudas. For me, fishing the smaller guys were fun too. Which I would advise angers to bring enough apollo rigs there, and another piece of advice is remember to bring enough sinker as well as you would usually lose your rig together with the sinker once you stuck your rig somewhere down the water structure.
The video above is from our master Koh who hook a Queen Fish at about noon time.
The tides changes a couple of times during our stay. After the change of tide, we will bring in different species of small fish using the apollo jigs. I was using my bait caster to jig as it was easier for me to use one hand fishing which waiting for bigger fish to bite on my heavier gear... which eventually didn't happen for me... well that's fishing... sometimes you get it, sometimes you don't.
Some more pics to share. All pics are taken with my Samsung Galaxy S 2.
Except this one.
